Collaboration

Working from home? This is the new reality for a third of the global workforce today. While we all hope this won’t last too long, here are some tips from our workflow experts to make your life a little easier.

Following discussions with some of our customers, we realized that more of them could leverage the power of their system for remote and home-working users to keep in touch.

How to extend notifications to Microsoft Teams or Slack

With confinement rules in place, collaboration tools such as Slack or Microsoft Teams have become ubiquitous. We, at Dalet, use Microsoft Teams heavily, be it for instant messaging chats, or video meetings.

If you have a Dalet Galaxy five system with WebSpace and BPM enabled, it’s easy to extend notifications out to these collaboration systems. Let me give you an example: imagine you have a simple workflow such as automatic QC and you want to make sure your team is notified when the content has been ingested, and in what QC status it is. This would be coded in such a simple workflow:

You can simply use a stencil to add push notification to a dedicated channel (in this example using Microsoft Teams).

When that workflow is executed, any user subscribed to that channel will receive a notification on their desktop or mobile device, see the QC approval status and open WebSpace directly on the appropriate asset for preview, metadata editing or whichever is the next workflow step.

This is fast and easy to setup. For example, in Microsoft Teams, you simply need to enable a Webhook connection to the channel, configure the endpoint in your BPM Stencil, and off you go!

The process is very similar when connecting Dalet Galaxy five to Slack or the Ooyala Flex Media Platform to either Microsoft Teams or Slack. This is the beauty of open workflow engines!

If you need any help in setting this up, contact your Dalet support representative for more details.

Wishing you much health, patience and connectivity in these times of isolation.
